A hand to a calligrapher is a font to a computer! Learn Foundational Hand, the elegant rounded script developed in the early 20th century by Edward Johnston, the father of modern calligraphy. Drawn from medieval manuscripts, it’s the script nearly every other broad edge hand builds on.
This beginner-friendly class covers pen grip, angle, and letter construction, giving you the fundamentals to write your own short phrases and a solid base for future hands.
No experience is required.
All materials are curated and provided by Miranda, or bring you own supplies! See “What to Bring” below.

What to Bring:
You may bring a snack and beverage.

New students: A one-time $50.00 supply fee is due to the instructor at the beginning of the first class. Cash, Venmo, or Zelle are accepted.
Returning calligraphy students: Bring your own supplies. The fee will be prorated based on your supplies, plus the handout fee.
