Brush Lettering is a modern style of calligraphy that is inspired by pointed pen calligraphy. In 1973, Japanese company Kuretake created the refillable Fudepen “brush pen”. The brush pen made calligraphy easily accessible and it requires no maintenance, only replace the cap so the ink does not dry out.
This class introduces students to the fundamentals of Brush Lettering using brush pens. Learn proper tools, posture, pen handling, and basic stroke formation, leading to simple letterforms in a traditional alphabet.
